UKPayday Check eligibility

About UKPayday

A credit broker. No blurred lines.

UKPayday helps you check whether a lender or broker on our panel may be able to consider your application.

That is our role. We do not lend money, approve applications or decide the rate you receive.

You complete one short form. We use a soft search to look for a potential match. If we find one, you decide whether you want to continue. Checking through UKPayday is free and does not affect your credit score.

The process

What we actually do

We keep the first step simple.

  1. 01

    You choose an amount

Tell us how much you would like to borrow. This is a request, not a guaranteed offer.

  2. 02

    You complete one short form

We ask about you, your income and your regular spending. This helps potential lenders understand whether another repayment may be affordable.

  3. 03

    We check our panel

We use a soft credit search to look for a potential match among participating lenders and brokers. A soft search does not affect your credit score.

  4. 04

    You choose what happens next

If we find a potential match, you can continue to the partner and review the available terms. You are free to stop at any point.

A potential match is not approval. The lender will make the final decision after completing its own affordability, identity and credit checks. This may include a hard credit search, which will appear on your credit file and may affect your score.

Responsibilities

Our job and the lender's job

It should always be clear who is responsible for what.

UKPayday

  • Provides a credit-broking service
  • Collects your initial information
  • Uses a soft search to check for a potential match
  • May introduce you to a participating lender or broker
  • Does not charge you for using the service

The lender

  • Decides whether to approve your application
  • Decides how much it may offer
  • Sets the interest rate and repayment term
  • Completes its own checks
  • Provides the money
  • Collects and manages your repayments

We cannot guarantee that you will be accepted. We also cannot guarantee that you will receive the amount, term or rate you originally requested.

Before you accept

Why clear information matters

Short-term credit can be expensive. A monthly payment may look manageable on its own, but it does not tell you the full cost.

Only continue if every repayment fits your budget after rent or mortgage payments, food, energy, travel and your other essential costs.

Before accepting a loan, look at

  • The interest rate and APR
  • The number of repayments
  • The amount of each repayment
  • The total amount repayable
  • The payment dates
  • Any charges that may apply
  • What could happen if you miss a payment

The most important figure is the total amount repayable. It tells you how much the borrowing will cost from beginning to end.

Commission

How UKPayday is paid

You do not pay UKPayday a fee.

We may receive a commission from a lender or another broker if our introduction leads to you entering a credit agreement. The commission may vary depending on the partner or product.

The existence and nature of the commission—and, where relevant, how it may affect the amount you pay—will be explained before you enter an agreement. You can also ask us for the amount or likely amount of commission.

Any interest or lender charges will be included in the loan terms you receive before you decide whether to accept them.

A word of caution

When borrowing is the wrong direction

A short loan should deal with a short, one-off gap: an urgent boiler repair, an essential car cost or a bill that arrived earlier than expected.

It should not become part of your monthly income.

If you need to borrow again to repay earlier borrowing, or the same shortfall returns every month, another loan is unlikely to solve the problem. It may make the next month harder.

Free and impartial help is available from MoneyHelper and established debt-advice charities. Speaking to them does not affect your credit score.
