Accessibility

The site should work for everyone

We want as many people as possible to be able to understand and use UKPayday.

That includes people who use assistive technology, have a disability, find online forms difficult or need information explained differently.

Our standard

Our accessibility aim

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA as our reference when designing and reviewing the website.

This does not mean that every page will work perfectly for every person or device. If something stops you using the service, tell us.

What to expect

What we aim to support

We design and review the website so that you should be able to:

  • Navigate using a keyboard
  • Use a screen reader
  • Zoom text without losing important content
  • Read text with sufficient colour contrast
  • Understand links and buttons without relying only on colour
  • Move through forms in a logical order
  • Identify required form fields
  • Understand form instructions and error messages
  • Use the website on a mobile phone, tablet or desktop
  • Read content written in clear, direct language

We also avoid unnecessary movement, flashing content and complicated layouts.

Forms

Application forms

Financial application forms contain detailed questions, but they should still be clear and manageable.

We aim to:

  • Divide longer forms into shorter stages
  • Explain why important information is needed
  • Use clear labels
  • Show progress where helpful
  • Identify errors without deleting completed answers
  • Avoid unnecessary time limits
  • Make buttons large enough for mobile users
  • Avoid asking for the same information repeatedly

If a form is not working with your device or assistive technology, contact us before submitting repeated applications.

Your device

Changing your device settings

Your browser or device may allow you to:

  • Increase the text size
  • Zoom into a page
  • Change colours or contrast
  • Use text-to-speech
  • Navigate using voice commands
  • Enable captions
  • Reduce screen movement

AbilityNet provides guidance on changing your device to meet your needs.

Alternative formats

Information in another format

If you need information presented differently, email help@ukpayday.co.uk.

Tell us:

  • Which page or document you need
  • The format that would help
  • How you would like us to respond

We will consider reasonable ways to provide the information, which may include:

  • A plain-text version
  • Larger text
  • A clearer written explanation
  • Information divided into shorter sections
  • Communication through an authorised representative

Do not include more health or personal information than we need to understand your request.

Other organisations

Third-party websites

UKPayday is a credit broker. Your application may be referred to T Dot UK Limited, a lender or another broker.

Once you move to another organisation’s website, its accessibility arrangements apply. We do not control the design or technology used on third-party websites.

If you cannot identify or contact the organisation involved, tell us. We will help identify the relevant partner where reasonably possible.

Report an accessibility problem

Email help@ukpayday.co.uk with the subject “Accessibility”.

Please include:

  • The page address
  • What you were trying to do
  • What went wrong
  • The device and browser used
  • Any assistive technology involved
  • The format or adjustment that would help

You do not need to provide a formal technical report.

If we fall short

Complaints

If we do not deal with an accessibility concern properly, email complaints@ukpayday.co.uk.

Our Complaints page explains how we investigate complaints and when the Financial Ombudsman Service may be available.

Ongoing

Reviewing accessibility

We review accessibility when:

  • Building or changing important pages
  • Updating the application form
  • Adding new website technology
  • Receiving accessibility feedback
  • Identifying repeated customer difficulties

Automated testing can identify some problems, but not all of them. Feedback from people using the website remains important.
